According to a recent study by Socialinsider, companies with large followers on Instagram have more than doubled their use of the Stories function of the social network in 2021.
The report is based on an analysis of 962,402 stories from 6,014 business accounts released between January 2020 and October 2021.
Companies with more than 100,000 Instagram followers published an average of 49 stories per month in 2021, compared to an average of 24 stories per month in 2020. The use of stories by companies with smaller followers did not increase nearly as much compared to the previous year.
The analysis found that audiences are most likely to drop out of a company during the first few stories. About 17% of users leave a company in the first story, an average of 12% in the second and 10% in the third.
Now that the fourth story leaves the plateau, it indicates that corporate Instagram stories tend to have a core audience that sticks to most / all of the updates.
The analysis showed that, on average, stories have a significantly lower reach compared to standard Instagram posts.
