There are several hurdles that we as individuals encounter in our lives when it comes to pursuing our career path. We recognize these obstacles, but somewhere we stand clueless to find a solution to them. We often get caught up in these problems and end up making the wrong career choice. Because of this, people tend to switch between multiple career options and remain dissatisfied with the options chosen and eventually compromise the field available to them, considering that their exploratory phase has ended and they want stability in their life.
Why not dwell in your passionate area instead of compromising and settling for less? Find answers to the problems of our daily life.
In order to find answers to our problems, it is first important to acknowledge our problem. Together, let’s examine some of the most common problems everyone faces or might face at some point in life and try to find the best possible alternatives to improve the acquired personality.
Before we even talk about the technicality of a subject, there are some other non-technical aspects that make us not stand out in our field even though we have the best knowledge in our field. We improve our technical knowledge so much that we forget to work on skills development in order to have a better impact on our audiences. Most of us fear spontaneous presentations and break a sweat just thinking about them. The reflex response to such a situation is: “NO, I CANNOT DO IT!”
We are afraid IF we forget, IF we cannot present ourselves, IF we cannot express what we want, IF we are not liked by others and others judge us for our work. Just the thought of a negative result leads to the fact that we withdraw from several new tasks, which not only hinders our creativity but also our individual growth. The ifs and buts of a situation are likely to ponder, but we shouldn’t let them affect our performance.
We are often unable to deliver what we intend. Have you thought about why it is happening? We are all individuals with different ways of thinking, ideas, thoughts and somewhere we color our judgments with our own prejudices. Sometimes we have the best ideas we can come up with but we cannot express them because of stage fright, fear or nervousness and the whole purpose is foiled and in vain. A certain amount of stress is essential for adequate performance. However, excessive stress can lead to poor performance and so it is important to have enough stress to do a task well. It is important to adopt practices such as mirroring, where the person can prepare the speech and perform it in front of the mirror, for introspection and analysis of one’s own performance. Finding motivational and inspirational videos can also be a good idea to convey some of the new insights into how to make an impact on the target audience. You can also make videos of yourself and look at the areas to be worked on. Then brainstorm and improve the existing content. Additionally, one can do one’s best to seize the opportunities of presentations and other oral performances, especially activities like extempores and other impromptu tasks that not only help overcome stage fright, but also build confidence and self-esteem.
